WDH is passionate about improving lives through supporting and improving communities. Its ambitious, multi-million-pound housing delivery programme is a core element of the organisation’s vision, ensuring the provision of more, high-quality affordable homes that meet the needs of existing residents, families in need of rehousing, and aspiring homeowners.

New build activity is sourced, commissioned, and delivered by the Development service which comprises New Business, Delivery, Sales, and Aftercare teams who work closely together to provide robust end-to-end project management, with a key focus on outcomes for customers.

What you’ll be doing

Working alongside several equivalent roles and reporting to the Development Manager, Development Project Managers play a crucial and high-profile role in the delivery of new build projects, taking charge of the construction phase and proactively engaging with key stakeholders throughout to ensure that homes are delivered to scope, budget, and quality requirements.

You will hold a portfolio of delivery projects which will comprise land-led delivery, package deals, and acquisitions from the market, across a range of geographical locations. As such, there will be a requirement to be regularly ‘on-site’ to monitor progress of projects.

As part of your overall project management, you will be responsible for close monitoring and forecasting of project budgets, reporting on critical milestones, complying with funding requirements, managing contracts, collaborating with Clerks of Works, and directing appointed Consultants.

What we’re looking for

To join our forward-looking Development service and be an integral part of delivering our exciting new build programme, we’re looking for someone with:

  • excellent communication skills and proven ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders;
  • project management experience;
  • contract management knowledge;
  • understanding of budget management;
  • strategic awareness of the importance of affordable housing and the customer experience;
  • the ability to plan ahead and ensure effective risk mitigation; and
  • self-motivation and a ‘can do’ attitude.
