We aim to provide a wide range of opportunities for people using our services to help influence and shape them, so we can be confident we are doing the right things.

We never stop looking for ways to improve what we do and we understand that the best way to do it is through hearing the voices of our customers; the people who know best.  By listening carefully, we can be sure that the decisions we make are the right ones.

See more about how you can get involved in the tabs below.

If you want to know about getting involved at a level that suits you, please contact our Engagement Team on 01977 788647 or email us.

Customer Panel

We are committed to making sure our services, performance and regulations can be scrutinised. As a member of our Customer Panel you will help to make sure this happens, providing a tenant led approach to looking at services which directly affect you.

You can be involved as much or as little as you like to act as a critical friend, to take an independent view on our performance, assess it against agreed standards and ensure that the services we provide and both tenant centred and industry leading.

The Customer Panel is digital by design, meaning that opportunities to be involved, updates and rewards will be emailed to you on a regular basis.

Opportunities to get involved include, but are not limited to;

  • policy reviews;
  • surveys;
  • focus groups;
  • in-depth service reviews;
  • new service testing
  • promotional materials; and
  • individual views and opinions.

To join the Customer Panel, please complete the Customer panel registration form.

Neighbourhood Panels

We have seven Neighbourhood Panels, which are made up of a range of community representatives.

The role of Neighbourhood Panels is to determine local priorities and contribute to the development, implementation and challenge of local plans and engagement strategies and to agree local solutions to local issues. Neighbourhood Panels work to ensure residents from across the district are involved in everything we do.

Do you want to make a difference in your community? Join one of our Neighbourhood Panels, and you'll be able to do just that.

Scrutiny Group

Scrutiny is a great way of ensuring that customers have a say in how we deliver our services. Feedback from our customers is passed to the Scrutiny Group on a regular basis, where the information can be reviewed and an area or service chosen to scrutinise.

The Scrutiny Group will then undertake a review into their chosen area, producing a report and actions WDH could take to improve the customer experience.

Scrutiny is an essential part of ensuring that we remain effective and accountable and we are looking for customers with an interest in supporting improvements at WDH to come onboard.

As a member of the Scrutiny Group you will;

  • Review customer feedback
  • Interview customers and employees
  • Undertake research into WDH services
  • Make recommendations on how the customer experience can be improved.

If you would like more information about the Scrutiny Group, or would like to attend a scrutiny meeting for a taster, please email [email protected]

Tenants’ and residents’ groups

By joining or starting a tenants’ and residents’ group you can make a real difference to your neighbourhood, from a single apartment block to a whole community. We really value the part groups play in making their areas better places to live.

We offer a wide range of support to help new groups get off the ground and existing groups to carry on their good work. The WDH and Communities Together Agreement sets out the support we can offer to both informal and formal tenant and residents’ groups.

To find out more, read the agreement.

Resident Involvement Monitoring Group

The Resident Involvement Monitoring Group (RIMG) examines and evaluates our resident involvement work and performance.

Acting as a critical friend, the group helps us to be effective by offering a customer viewpoint and constructive challenge of our work. It also helps us to be sure we offer value for money and that the views of residents influence our services and decision making.

Nominate for our Love Where You Live Awards

Every year, we host the Love Where You Live awards which recognise young achievers, groups and community heroes in the Wakefield district that make a positive difference to their communities.

Look out on social media for nominations opening and tell us about the people in your area who go above and beyond.
