New housing and office apprenticeship programme launched

052 Sf Wdh Staff Lifestyle August 2024 (Edit)

We are excited to announce the launch of our new housing and office-based apprenticeship programme starting in October 2024. The programme is aimed at providing valuable hands on experience and professional development opportunities for individuals of all backgrounds.

This innovative programme is part of our ongoing commitment to growth, diversity, continuous learning and providing opportunities across our communities.
Our apprenticeship programme is open to anyone aged 16 and over, whether they are just leaving school, looking for a career change, or returning to the workforce.

The programme lasts two years with the first year focused on learning and achieving the qualification and the end point assessment.  After completing the apprenticeship standard, they will become  ‘Business Trainees’ for up to 12 months to give them time to look for a permanent role within WDH.

What current vacancies are available?

This year, we have 13 apprenticeship spaces available in the following areas:
•    two in our Technical Services Administration team;
•    one in our Care and Health team;
•    one in our Debt team;
•    two in our Estates team;
•    one in our OneCALL team;
•    one in our Cash Wise team;
•    two in our Finance team;
•    two in  our IT team; and
•    one in our Legal team (Paralegal).

Becky Maulkinson, Apprentice Team Leader, said: "It’s an exciting time to launch our new apprenticeship programme and attract new colleagues to a career in social housing! Apprenticeships can be for anyone of any age, and I am keen to hear from you and how your unique experiences can support us in being an inclusive and representative employer.”

To promote this exciting new scheme, we will be holding an open evening for prospective applicants on Thursday, 29 August 2024 at Merefield House from 5.30 pm to 7.30 pm with free parking available on site.  This a chance for anyone interested to  meet the teams and ask any questions about the programme or working in the team.
If you know anyone who would be interested in applying, you can find out more here.
