Independent living has something for everyone!

ILS Vid Still 1

Whether you prefer being pampered in one of our salons or getting your hands dirty in the garden, an afternoon watching the rugby with your friends or a quiet cup of tea, independent living has something for everyone!

We’re saying a big thank you to independent living residents Audrey, Gladys, Margaret and Vanessa who were the stars of the show for our latest videos. They helped us to show off some of the things they love about calling our independent living schemes home.

Our schemes are perfect for anyone who needs a little bit more help at home or support with their everyday living. We support you to maintain an independent lifestyle, meaning you will have your own door key and can come and go as you please, while still living within a larger secure scheme, or a self-contained bungalow, that offers safety and peace of mind.

The schemes are in towns throughout the Wakefield district, near shops and all the other services you need. Each scheme has a Community Support Worker or an Extra Care Scheme Manager on hand to look out for our residents.

They also arrange and support social activities and events to encourage the active and happy atmosphere found at our schemes. There’s always something going on, whether it's one of the many trips or a get together in the residents' lounge, boccia bowling, bingo, charity events, or even learning to get online.

For anyone who needs a little more help, we also offer Extra Care independent living schemes in Ossett and Featherstone. These offer the same great facilities as our traditional independent living schemes but offer some added benefits for those who need them.

Our Extra Care Schemes provide you with safe, secure independent living and a busy social scene but also provide a daily three-course lunch in the lounge and domestic assistants to help keep your home clean.

There are no age restrictions for our independent living schemes and people choose them for many different reasons. Learn more about eligibility.
