We’re celebrating the transformation of the Tombridge Crescent estate in Kinsley after an extensive programme of regeneration works.
We began work on Tombridge in 2021 and completed in October 2024. As part of the scheme, we’ve improved 199 homes, including 99 WDH homes, 72 private homes, 7 shared ownership homes and 21 bungalows.
We installed new roofing, guttering, door canopies and external rendering as well as crreating off-road parking for 65 homes to ease congestion. Customers living on the estate got new flagged footpaths to the front and rear of homes, rear fence lines with lockable gates to make back gardens safer for families, brick walls to the front, new front doors and gravel or turf in their front gardens.
To further enhance Tombridge Crescent, in conjunction with Highways, all footpaths were re-tarmacked to improve their appearance and make them safer under foot. During the regeneration works, 34 owner occupiers on the estate also received a new front boundary wall, gate and drive resurfacing if shared with a WDH home.
Project Manager, Tommy Davis, said: “Being a local lad, I’ve grown up around the Tombridge community, so it was great for me personally to hear we were undertaking an environmental project in the area.
“I took great pride in being the Project Manager to deliver the works that will help turn perceptions about Tombridge around. Both our customers and private residents received a great uplift to the community, and they were all very happy with the outcome, making Tombridge a better and safer place to live.”
Tombridge resident Franchesca said: “It has been brilliant to see how things have gone, in a weird way I think I’m going to miss everyone. The team and all the staff have been great with us all the way through.
“Before it started, I think there were a few people who were worried about how things would go but looking at the estate now you can see how much needed doing. It looks great, it has made a real difference.”
Service Director – Technical Services, David Thorpe, added: “This project has been a great example of what we can achieve with our internal trade teams and by working with our contractors to create places that people can be proud of. The transformation of Tombridge Crescent has already had a positive impact on the wider area.
“Through partnership working, careful planning and engagement with our customers, we’ve been able to make a real change in so many lives. This is just the start for Tombridge, I’m certain our work here will continue to have a significant impact for years to come. Well done to everyone involved.”
