Our Care Link team has been contacted by a number of customers who have been targeted by scammers over the last few days.
The scammers are calling Care Link customers, claiming that they will need to upgrade their pendants due to the Digital Switchover and asking for bank details.
While Care Link is in the process of changing some equipment as part of the Digital Switchover, you will be contacted well in advance of any changes, and you will not be asked for a payment. We are asking our customers to be vigilant of scams and to not give out bank details over the phone to strangers.
Fortunately, we are not aware of anyone that has passed on their details to the scammers so far. The digital switchover is free, and we, alongside other home alarm providers and local councils, will never ask for personal or financial details over the phone.
If you are the victim of a scam or fraudulent activity, you should report this to Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 or through their website, or contact your local trading standards team.
