Residents had fun at our 50th Homebuilder property celebration

Local residents braved the weather to take part in celebrations at Waterton Court, Crofton to mark the completion of WDH’s 50th new build property by our Homebuilder Team of skilled tradespeople.

The streets had been decorated ready for Halloween and everyone who attended was encouraged to take home a pumpkin to carve.

The event also included hot drinks and cake for everyone, the chance to win some shopping vouchers with a raffle and lots of activities for children.

Members of WDH’s Engagement Team, Home builder Team and Anne Britton, Tenant Involvement Officer were involved in the day’s festivities which were well attended by residents.

Adam Green, WDH’s Homebuilder Manager said: “It was nice to be able to repay the patience of the local residents and meet the new tenants moving in. it’s important for Homebuilder to be able to thank everyone and show our appreciation to the community with such an event.

“It was great to see the children enjoy themselves and the weather was relatively kind and didn’t seem to deter some very interested locals.”

WDH achieves Europe’s highest business award

WDH has been named as one of Europe’s best businesses after winning the EFQM Excellence Award.  

EFQM is recognised across Europe as the benchmarking framework for major businesses across the continent and beyond, with organisations being judged and scored against its criteria.

A prestigious judging panel score all entries under several categories including customer service, investing in people and achieving outstanding results.

Those with the top scores are considered to be ‘world class’ and awarded the European Excellence Award. WDH is the first UK business to achieve this accolade.

Kevin Dodd, WDH’s Chief Executive, said:  “Winning the European Excellence Award and being named as Europe’s best business is our greatest achievement, and could not fall at a better time given that housing is now so much higher on the political agenda.

“The day-to-day work of social landlords is vastly underrated. We are about much more than rents and repairs - we are making a positive contribution to the quality of life of millions of people across the UK, and changes to our rents and the Right-to-Buy policy put much of this work in jeopardy.

“We are extremely proud to achieve this award because we are flying the flag for the housing sector, showing what we can achieve with the right support and partnership working.”

WDH was the only UK business represented in the finals of the EFQM Awards 2015, and the only business representing the housing sector.

WDH’s success this year builds on its previous achievements in the EFQM European Excellence Awards, where it was named a Finalist in 2012 and a prize winner for ‘adding value for customers’ in 2013.

Our Tenant Satisfaction Survey has started and will end on Friday 22 February 2019. You may receive a call from customer experience specialists, TLF, who are calling a sample of tenants to gather your views on the service you receive from us.  If you do receive a call from TLF, please be assured that we have employed them to complete the survey on our behalf. This ensures that your feedback is anonymous if you wish. We carry out this survey to gather your feedback which we use to make improvements to our services. Since the last survey was carried out, we have been working hard to improve the areas that matter most to you. Keeping the promises we make to you. We have: delivered customer service training to all front line employees; reviewed our Customer Charter Standards based on what you told us was important to you; and reviewed the customer experience for your repairs service, including letting you know the most common rechargeable and non-rechargeable repairs. The way we deal with nuisance and antisocial behaviour. We have: reviewed the process for reporting antisocial behaviour and nuisance; and made sure that if you complain about antisocial behaviour and nuisance you are kept informed about the timescales you can expect for a response. Making us easier to deal with. We have launched Phase 2 of our App which enables you to track the progress of your repair; and we are looking at options for introducing Webchat to give you greater choice in the way you contact us.   Thank you for your feedback and support.

Children from DeLacy Primary School and Carleton Park Junior and Infant School joined residents at Halberg House and Eastbourne Independent Living Scheme for carols and Christmas cheer. Residents sat back and enjoyed listening to the children sing favourites like including Jingle Bells and We Wish You a Merry Christmas. Some even joined in! One resident said: “Listening to the children sing fills us all with happiness and lifts our festive spirits. I look forward to this event every year.”

Scouts group perform for residents at Silkstone Court17 December 2018

Children from 1st Altofts Scout group - spanning Beavers, Cubs and Scouts - entertained residents at Silkstone Court on Thursday with festive Christmas songs. The residents enjoyed classics such as Jingle Bells and Walking In A Winter Wonderland, joining in as the children sang. “The Beavers, Cubs and Scouts really enjoyed their evening with the residents of Silkstone Court, and the residents seemed to relish the chance for a good old sing-song. It just goes to show that you’re never too old to enjoy singing Jingle Bells!” said Kim Hiscocks, Scout Leader.
