You can now vote for your local community heroes to get the recognition they deserve, as part of WDH's Love Where You Live Awards 2017.

All of our offices and service access points (SAPs) will be closed from Friday 25 August and will reopen on Tuesday 28 August.

Over 25 green fingered residents from The Avenues in Pontefract received top tips from industry experts on how to maintain their new gardens which were renovated by WDH earlier this year.

As part of WDH’s 2017 apprenticeship scheme, we are proud to welcome six new apprentices.

Laura Masters and her family are the lucky winners of our summer competition. Hundreds of tenants entered the competition to win £500 worth of holiday vouchers by downloading and logging in to the WDH App. Laura was delighted to win the prize and said: "I’ve never won anything before. I downloaded the App because we needed to report a repair and it helped us to do it quickly. Winning this prize is the cherry on the cake." Don’t worry if you didn’t win this time. You can still win £100 every month by using your online account through the WDH App or through our website. Simply log on and you will be entered into the prize draw.

We are extremely proud to launch this year’s Annual Report, which reflects on another successful year for WDH.

As part of the work that WDH does with partner organisations, we are helping Healthwatch Wakefield collect local people’s views on the services that are provided at Pontefract Hospital. They also would like to know what type of urgent care services you think could be provided there. The reason they are asking this now is that the contract to deliver urgent care at Pontefract Hospital is due for renewal next year so there is an opportunity to review the service. No decisions have been made yet about urgent care at Pontefract Hospital, as NHS Wakefield Clinical Commissioning Group believes the public should help shape the service. Healthwatch Wakefield is an independent organisation and wants to collect as many views as possible. Members of the Chinwag Club are delighted to be able to carry on with their activities thanks to a grant of £1500 from WDH.   The Club, for people over 50, meets every Monday afternoon at Balne Lane  Community Centre. The Club provides an opportunity for older people to make friends and keep active. The group play bingo, cards and do chair based exercises. They often organise guest speakers and people to teach a variety of crafts and activities. Violet Chaltone, one member of the Club said: "It can feel really lonely when you live on your own. I enjoy coming to the Club for company. This is my regular activity to look forward every week." Chris Croxall, Tenant Involvement Officer at WDH said: "The area needs more organisations like Chinwag Club. Some of the members are disabled or on low income and the Club gives them a chance to socialise. By coming together regularly it improves the quality of life and avoids isolation. " The grant will help them to pay towards the annual rent and the cost of running the Club. The club always welcomes new members.
