Wakefield district benefits from community funding

Published 4 July 2014

People from the Lupset and Thornes areas of Wakefield can benefit from the ‘Community First Fund’ – a project which will benefit local residents with education, health and wellbeing and tackle financial hardship.

The fund aims to promote volunteering in the community.  If you volunteer in the Lupset of Thornes area, this fund could help you and your group.

The fund will pay up to £2,500 towards your project.  You must be able to show that you can match this amount by using volunteers’ time (calculated at £11.09 per hour) or other finances (including gifts you have received that contribute to your project).

For more information go to https://sites.google.com/site/lupsetcommunityfund, or speak to Tracy Leach (Community Development Worker) on 07796 987699 or email tleach@wakefield.gov.uk.

The fund closes in December 2014 and applications are to be submitted by September 2014.
