Homebuilder builds on its success at national construction awards

Our in-house construction team, Homebuilder, has won a prestigious national award for a development in Crofton.

The national Considerate Constructor Awards, held in Manchester, saw our Homebuilder team take home a Silver award for Hawthorn Court, building on a Bronze award they achieved for Nicholson Street, Castleford, in 2015.

Homebuilder achieved the award for activities undertaken with schools and residents within the local community over the project’s duration. These included a Santa’s grotto, school site safety visits, a monthly newsletter and hosting a Macmillan coffee morning on site.

The Considerate Constructors scheme is designed to improve the image of construction and rewards schemes where the site teams have gone above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that residents and other stakeholders are not inconvenienced by the development. In addition it encourages teams to try new and innovative measures to keep residents in these areas happy.

Dave Hobbs, the Site Manager for Hawthorn Court, said: “This is a great achievement for everyone involved. It was a massive team effort and everyone worked so hard to achieve this great result. It’s good to represent WDH as a constructor as well as a landlord on a national level.”

Chris Margrave, Improvements Manager, said: “It’s a truly special occasion to win a national award. The site was selected from thousands, and the fact that we were potentially in the top 10% of considerate construction sites in the country is a huge accolade.
We wouldn’t have received this fantastic result without the drive of the whole team on this project. It is also brilliant to see an improvement on our Bronze award from last year for our Nicholson Street development.”
