WDH Community Grant available now

Published 31 August 2021

Today, WDH is launching the WDH Community Grant Scheme for 2021 to help community groups in the Wakefield district with grants of up to £1,500.

The aim of the scheme is to help increase community spirit and enhance the quality of life for local people, especially now as government restrictions are starting to ease.

All community groups in the Wakefield district are welcome to apply for a WDH Community Grant of up to £1,500 between 31 August and 26 September 2021.

Applications from local community groups or voluntary clubs to boost existing services and help organise activities are welcome.

Over 350 groups have already benefited from the grant, which can be used for:

  • buying equipment;
  • supporting activities;
  • events;
  • ongoing rental costs;
  • room hire; and
  • building maintenance.

One of the community groups that received a grant of £780 from the WDH Community Grant Scheme is Catch a Falling Star, an adult mental health support group.

 Holly Blacker, Chair of Catch a Falling Star said: “It means so much to us to be supported by a local organisation like WDH who really cares about our community and helps to promote mental health and wellbeing. The funding we received will cover our room hire for our support group sessions for a whole year ensuring we continue to meet and build our support networks.”
