Tres Bien! Apprentices enjoy cross channel experience

Two French apprentices swapped Bordeaux for Portobello as part of a work experience exchange programme.

Alex Bouvier and Alex Jasmin, both 16, visited from Les Compagnons du Devoir – an organisation in western France which supports youngsters into work – for a two week stay.

During their visit, which was arranged in partnership with Business and Education South Yorkshire, the pair worked with WDH plumber Stephen Prendergast and joiners Nick Naylor and Phil Mallia to learn more about the trades and get experience of a new way of working.

Steve Parry, External Services Manager, who organises for six students a year to visit WDH from France, said: “The boys were fantastic students who were both willing to come over, learn and engage with the team. The tradesmen were more than happy to take them on board hopefully we’ll be able to arrange for some English apprentices to go out to France in the near future.”
