The latest applicants to our Training for Employment attended a very successful practical assessment day at Tuscany Court Warehouse facility.
The Training for Employment Team develops and delivers the annual session which includes building a planter and Horticulture skills.
Wayne Smith, who took part in the day said: “I was slightly nervous at first but we all fitted in quite well and I enjoyed it. I learnt some new skills on the assessment day and I thought everyone got on really well. I found out about this programme through the WDH job advisor at the job centre and they were supportive. This is a great opportunity; overall I had a great day.”
Karen Wilders, Training for Employment Manager, said: “The practical assessment day is always well received by the learners on the Training for Employment Work Academy.
She added: “At the beginning of the day, the learners are given a pile of wooden slats, a hammer and nails. At the end of the day, they walk away with a wooden planter filled with seasonal plants, a wider knowledge of horticulture, developed team working and communication skills and a great sense of achievement! It’s always is a very successful and enjoyable day.”
