The Big Feed bringing free meals to Wakefield for Christmas

Published 17 December 2020

WDH is supporting the Wakefield Trinity Community Foundation’s The Big Feed project, aiming to help vulnerable families over the Christmas period.

The initiative, part of The Big Project announced in February 2020, aims to supply over 100 meals a day to families in and around the Wakefield region struggling to provide a healthy meal over the winter months.

WDH donated £400 to the cause to purchase additional food and supplies.

Free take away meals will be available for collection by car or on foot at the following locations, from Tuesday 22 December to Thursday 31 December, excluding Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

Mobile Rocket Stadium WF1 5EY

Rycroft Leisure WF4 2BB

The kitchens will be open between 11 am and 1 pm, and 2 pm and 4 pm at each site.

As the kitchens will not be open on Christmas Day or Boxing Day, families can collect more than one meal to support themselves over this extended two-day period.

Deliveries are available within the Wakefield district only for those who can’t collect in person by calling 01924211611. The hotline will be open from Tuesday 22 December.

The Cash Wise Team will be on-site at the Mobile Rocket Stadium on Tuesday 22 December to offer money saving tips and advice.
