WDH is committed to supporting the environmental and social sustainability of tenants, employees and the communities we operate in. We encouraged tenants to take part in a competition by sharing how they are helping the planet. The competition asked tenants for their best sustainability tips and to highlight how you can save money on your energy bills, by making a few simple changes as well as helping the environment. Our tenants were asked to share their tips on our social media pages and we received lots of handy hints.
Congratulations to Laura Howard and Jayne Flintoff, both winners of the sustainability competition. Laura’s tip was don’t leave things on standby turn off at the plug and use energy saving lightbulbs. Jayne posted that you should cook with the lid on. This is a super simple tip in everyday life to save energy consumption, by cooking with the lid you are making sure to lessen the cooking time and water usage significantly.
Laura said: “I think it’s great that WDH are trying to encourage people to be more sustainable and become more energy efficient. There were many great ideas and tips from people on the WDH Facebook page and I’m so happy I was one of the people who won. I choose a prize voucher and will be using it to put towards a gift for my daughter’s birthday.”
Jayne said: “It was a wonderful surprise to have won credit which allowed me to reduce my rent balance, in these challenging financial times it was a lovely boost to my life.”
