Support services available to tenants

For those of us who are currently self-isolating and having to spend more time at home, it may be of some relief to hear that the government has pledged to support people with energy costs during this time. There will be specific arrangements put in place for those on pre-payment meters struggling with the implications of the Coronavirus, as well as energy customers facing financial distress. Whilst I appreciate there is a lot more to consider at the moment, I hope this relieves at least some of the worries you might have.  

I also wanted to let you know about some of the other services and resources that you might not have ever needed to access before, but may provide some help or useful information at this time.  

  • On the topic of energy and saving money, our Switch and Save service can support you to make sure that you are on the right energy tariff and we have a range of useful guides for heating your home more efficiently. You can also compare the whole of the market using one of the many comparison sites available.
  • Our Cash Wise website holds lots of useful guides, hints, tips and information on a host of subjects including cooking on a budget, help with benefit problems and help to manage money. You can also follow them on Facebook for regular updates and advice.  
  • Whilst we are still only able to carry out emergency repairs, you might be able to fix some of the smaller jobs at home yourself. If you log into your online account you can access a series of films to talk you through the steps to bleed a radiator, turn off your stop tap and silence a smoke alarm for example. 

Whilst the weather may seem to be improving, it’s important to make sure that you are safe, warm and staying healthy at home. I hope that this information helps.
