Love Where You Live Awards - record vote

Published 29 September 2014

More than 7,000 votes have been cast in this year’s WDH Love Where You Live Awards – beating last year’s total.

Voting closed at midnight on Friday, with a late flurry of entries pushing the final total past last year’s tally.

When the online total cast via the dedicated website www.lovewhereyouliveawards.co.uk  was added to paper voting slips from service access points in the district, a total of 7,111 votes had been delivered across the seven categories:

 * Best Neighbourhood;

* Working with Older People;

* Working with Young People;

* Green Hero

* Young Achiever;

* Community Group; and

* Good Neighbour.

With the winners now decided, the three finalists in each category only have to wait until Thursday evening to find out if they topped the poll. All have been invited to a special awards evening at the Cedar Court Hotel, Wakefield, at which Martin Vaughan, of sponsors Wolseley Integrated Services, will hand out the awards.

Winners of an eighth category, Best Garden, will also be announced at the evening, which will be attended by WDH representatives.
