Ossett War Memorial Community Centre is benefitting from a newly installed hot cupboard in their kitchen thanks to a WDH Community Grant worth over £400.
The volunteers at the community centre realised that there was a need for a hot cupboard to keep plates warm for the many catered functions they hold such as the weekly lunch club in the community café.
John Paxton, from the Ossett War Memorial Community Centre, said: "Many regular groups are now benefitting from this, for example the older people who attend our weekly lunch club. Attending the lunch club helps stop this group feeling isolated from community life."
Kathryn Hutchinson, WDH’s Tenant Involvement Officer, attended the cheque presentation at one of the Wednesday lunch clubs along with two members of the North West Neighbourhood Panel.
She said: “It was a lovely opportunity to see the hot cupboard in action. The lunch was very well attended by local residents and the positive feedback about the warm plates was great to hear.”
WDH has offered more than £152,000 of community grants to local groups in the last 10 years.
