Making sure our community heroes get the recognition they deserve

Published 28 August 2020

Despite the ongoing pandemic we are so pleased to see that you have taken the time to nominate your community heroes for our Love Where You Live Awards and we want to make sure that they get the recognition they deserve That’s why we are holding our ninth Love Where You Live Awards a little differently with our first ever virtual event!

Voting for the winners of our Love Where You Live Awards will open on Friday 28 August 2020. You can place your votes for your community champions on the dedicated website, www.lovewhereyouliveawards.co.uk, which has information on each finalist.

Our awards recognise and reward good neighbours and community groups who make a positive difference in their neighbourhoods and during this difficult time we’ve been inundated with nominees who have continued to go over and above throughout the year. Over 50 local heroes have been nominated and the winners will be down to you, decided entirely by a public vote.
This year you can vote for the winners in eight categories:

  • Young Achiever
  • Community Champion
  • Arts and Culture
  • Digital in the Community
  • Working with Older People
  • Working with Young People
  • Community Group
  • Best Garden

Each winner will receive £200 thanks to our sponsors Sodexo, and the three finalists in each category will also receive a prize.
Voting is quick and easy using the website. Voting closes on Friday 2 October 2020.

Whilst we are doing things differently, we want to make sure that no one misses out on the recognition that they deserve so  we will be announcing the winners digitally, live on our social media channels @wdhupdate, at 6 pm on Tuesday 20 October 2020 and then in the local newspapers on Thursday 22 October 2020 for everyone to see!
