Help to shape district's future

Help to shape district's future

Published 24 November 2014

People are invited to a drop-in session on Wednesday (26 November) to find out how they can help to shape the future of Normanton and Featherstone by joining one of WDH's Neighbourhood Panels.

Our Neighbourhood Panels allow local people to have a say on proposed environmental schemes and community grant applications – which all go to improve and benefit their areas.

The informal event on Wednesday at the Huntwick Centre, Huntwick Road, Featherstone, from 11.30am to 1.30pm, will give anyone interested the chance to chat to an existing panel member to find out what they do over a cup of tea or coffee.

Existing members of the panel will attend to explain how volunteering in such a way can make a real difference.

The seven Neighbourhood Panels across the district are made up of five WDH tenants, two independent members who live and/or work in the area and a Wakefield councillor.

The panel members can decide how often they will meet – usually quarterly or bi-monthly. Each panel is chaired by a WDH tenant, who will receive support in their role.

People interested in joining the Normanton and Featherstone Neighbourhood Panel can contact Tenant Involvement Officers Tom Lawton and Claire Secker on 01977 788376 or 01977 788384.

Anyone who would like to be considered for any of the other six panels, should vacancies arise, can call 01977 784694 or email neighbourhoodpanels@wdh.co.uk for further details.
