Havercroft Parent’s Forum helps bring Christmas cheer to those in need thanks to WDH.

Published 23 December 2016

Havercroft Parent’s Forum is bringing Christmas cheer to local residents who really need it this year using prize money they received from WDH’s annual Love Where You Live Awards.

The group of volunteers, who took away the Community Group of the Year Award, used their £200 prize money to create hampers and buy presents for families who would have otherwise gone without this Christmas.

Nikki Moxon, Havercroft Parent Forum Chair, said: “We decided to use the money to really make a difference to the neediest families in our local community.  We often serve as a crisis point for local families and wanted to give them a reason to smile on Christmas Day. The money we received has helped us create hampers with food and a present for each family member, even the dogs and cats!”

The group meets every Thursday morning at Havercroft community centre and organises low cost events for families including fun days and parties to help get families out and about. The group is always looking for new volunteers so come along if you can spare a couple of hours each week to help.
