    Betty’s Garden gets a makeover

    Published 13 April 2015

A picturesque spot at the edge of a WDH estate is heading into spring with a makeover thanks to a weekly gardening club.

Volunteers pruned shrubs, trimmed borders and picked up litter at the Cutsyke Crest site known as Betty’s Garden, named after long-standing Westwood Road resident Betty Whittock.

Those who helped out included Rheta Davison, of Cutsyke Community Group, PCSO Yvonne Botham and Trish Ellis, community organiser for Castleford, Cutsyke and Whitwood, who this year is working for Castleford Heritage Trust and is overseeing the gardening club, which meets on Thursday mornings from 10am.

Other events over the school holidays included coffee mornings, craft events and an Easter egg hunt for children.

WDH Tenant Involvement Officer Sally Holdsworth, who helped organise the activities, said: “The garden is looking lovely thanks to the volunteers.”

Rheta added: “This patch of land needed quite a lot of work. The gardening club has gone from strength to strength.”

Have your say on our customer service standards

    Published 30 November 2015

As part of our commitment to delivering excellent customer service, all this week we’re asking you to take part in a consultation about our employee behaviours.

To ensure our employees behave in exactly the way you want them to, we want you to tell us the top five most important things you want to see from our people when dealing with us.

Speaking about the consultation Sarah Chatham, WDH’s Engagement Manager, said: “Our customers’ views are very important to us. We’ve already consulted over 100 tenants in various service access points, but we really want to hear from as many people as possible. All the feedback received will be used to make our services even better in the future.”

Recently WDH was named as one of Europe’s best businesses after achieving the European Excellence Award. In winning the prestigious award a judging panel scored WDH against several categories including customer service, investing in people and achieving outstanding results.
