Many of the energy suppliers’ Warm Home Discount schemes are now open for winter 2017-18 applications. If you qualify for the scheme, it can provide a welcome £140 towards your winter energy bills.
If you are on a low income or get certain means-tested benefits you may be eligible. Check with your electricity supplier so you don’t miss out. They can provide more information and tell you how to apply. Some suppliers have a limited pot of money available, so don’t leave it too late to apply.
Schemes generally open for applications in the Autumn, however, some are already open to apply or pre-register, such as EDF, E.ON, npower, OVO, Scottish Power and Utility Warehouse. Applications to Utilita can only be made between 14 August and 18 September 2017.
If you receive the Guaranteed Element of the Pension Credit you may automatically qualify for the scheme, so you shouldn’t need to apply, and will hear from your electricity supplier by the end of November 2017.
As not all suppliers are part of the scheme, you can check if your electricity supplier is, in our guide by clicking on the link below: Applying for the Warm Home Discount: Winter 2017-18 https://www.wdh.co.uk/SwitchAndSave/ If you are thinking of switching supplier, you may also want to consider if your new supplier is in the scheme.
Don’t forget - It’s easy to do using our Switch and Save service at www.switch-save.com or by calling 0800 112 0206 or 01259 220219.
