Published 20 May 2022

WDH is launching the WDH Community Grant Scheme for 2022 to help community groups in the Wakefield district with grants of up to £1,500.

The aim of the scheme is to help increase community spirit and enhance the quality of life for local people, helping to create confident communities across the Wakefield district and beyond.

All community groups in the Wakefield district are welcome to apply for a WDH Community Grant of up to £1,500 between Friday, 20 May and Friday, 3 June 2022.

The second window for funding will then open on Friday, 1 August 2022 and close on Friday, 12 August 2022.

Applications from local community groups or voluntary clubs to boost existing services and help organise activities are welcome.

Over 350 groups have already benefited from the grant, which can be used for:

  • buying equipment;
  • supporting activities;
  • events;
  • ongoing rental costs;
  • room hire; and
  • building maintenance.

Catch a Falling Star, an adult mental health support group were just one of the many community groups that received a grant from WDH's Community Grant Scheme.

 Holly Blacker, Chair of Catch a Falling Star said: “It means so much to us to be supported by a local organisation like WDH who really cares about our community and helps to promote mental health and wellbeing. The £780 funding we received will cover our room hire for our support group sessions for a whole year ensuring we continue to meet and build our support networks.”
