Alba Stogden – a little girl on a mission

Published 18 November 2021

Seven year old Alba was crowned our 2021 Young Achiever at this year’s Love Where You Live Awards.

Alba tackled her lockdown anxiety by going out on litter picks each day around Pontefract with her mum. She is a little girl on a mission to make the world a cleaner, safer and happier place. This year, Alba has walked hundreds of miles and helped to raise thousands of pounds for mental health charities and is now on with her next challenge to walk one million steps for the Yorkshire-based charity IDAS that supports people affected by domestic abuse and sexual violence.

On winning her award, Alba said: “I didn’t think I’d actually win. I feel very proud of myself. Thank you to everyone who voted for me.”

Her mum, Sophie, added: “We are so proud! For us as her parents it's the icing on the cake after an awesome year of her fundraising, litter picking, raising awareness on mental health and her rock snake. Alba is so humble; she is beyond proud of herself but is in such disbelief! She said she doesn't think she deserves it, that she didn't think she'd win. She's mentioned she'd like to find herself a new book maybe and perform some little acts of kindness with some of her prize money.”
