I’d like to take this opportunity to let you know that you, our customers, are our highest priority.
Our commitment to keep you safe will not be affected by the virus that is sweeping the world. What may be affected, however, is how we deliver some services which many of you rely on.
To protect vulnerable customers and minimise the risk of spreading the virus we have reduced the amount of face to face contact. However, whilst we have closed our hubs and service access points you can still contact us 24 hours a day, seven days a week to deal with all of your enquiries. Our repairs service is currently running as normal, however we are asking tenants to let us know if they are self-isolating so we can either postpone the visit or, in emergencies, make sure we have the right equipment to protect our employees and reduce the spread of the virus.
Our independent living scheme residents are still receiving the wellbeing support they know and love, but we’ve taken some extra precautions to protect them. Mainly reducing access to communal facilities and providing greater support over the phone or through Care Link.
Understandably, many of you will be concerned about your income following the impact of Coronavirus, however it is important that you continue paying your rent. Positively, the UK Government has recently announced that grants will be available to employers to cover 80% of wages for those of you who are still employed but unable to work as a result of the virus. The detail is still to follow, however it may offer some reassurance. If you are struggling our Debt and Cash Wise teams continue to be available to support your needs and offer advice based on your circumstances. They are understandably working harder than ever to make sure you feel confident facing the weeks ahead. The Government has also issued guidance which includes advice on how to make an application for Universal Credit, other benefits or updating your circumstances if you are already claiming. I would like to provide reassurance that no tenant will face the added concern of losing their home as a result of Covid-19 (Coronavirus).
This is a worrying time and, rightly so, we are all thinking about how best to look after our families. We would urge you to follow the latest government advice on how to avoid catching and spreading coronavirus, including the social distancing measures that have been introduced. We all have a part to play to stop coronavirus spreading and protecting those who are most vulnerable.
We will continue to update our website with the latest information and are developing some frequently asked questions to support you at this time. We will also be offering targeted support and advice for our more vulnerable customers on how to keep safe and the support we can offer.
