A better Christmas for 25 families thanks to Radio Aire’s Mission Christmas

Published 18 December 2019

Our Tenancy Ready Team are making Christmas a little easier for 25 families across the district with help from Radio Aire’s Mission Christmas appeal.

One in three children are living in poverty. This appeal helps to make sure that local children have at least one present to open on Christmas Day. They ask people to donate new and unwrapped gifts that they can distribute to families who need that extra help.

We were able to get the extra help from the Appeal, which is available for all registered charities, by completing an application form and submitting this to Radio Aire who then provided us with the gifts.

Last year the Tenancy Ready Team were able to help five families have a better Christmas thanks to Radio Aire’s Mission Christmas appeal and wanted to support even more for 2019.

Lee Beard, Homesearch Manager, said: “I’m delighted that we’ve been able to help a further 25 families across the district who are either currently going through their initial Universal Credit claim, or on a low income. It gives us great pleasure to be able to help them to ensure their children have something to open on Christmas morning and I’d like to thank Radio Aire for their continued support.”
