£25,000 awarded to Wakefield’s community heroes

Over the last 11 years, Yorkshire’s largest social housing provider, WDH has given £25,000 to over 90 inspirational community groups and individuals through the Love Where You Live awards. The awards recognise young achievers and community heroes in the Wakefield district who make a positive difference to their communities. WDH is now inviting the public to nominate even more community heroes for the hard work they put in to make the Wakefield district a better place to live.

We have exciting news this month! We have opened the doors to two beautiful new show homes and dedicated sales centres at our Heathlands at City Fields development in Wakefield and our Ashfield Park development in Normanton. We also have another show home on the Anthem development in Beverley if you are looking at home outside of Wakefield. You are invited to drop in or book an appointment between 10 am and 2 pm on a Saturday or Sunday to have a chat to our friendly and knowledgeable sales advisors and have a look around.

We have been considering the development of Beulah Court for a number of years. We had hoped to refurbish the facility but the pandemic which delayed progress on the scheme and the subsequent economic conditions have impacted on our options for the scheme.

Keeping residents safe - Training exercises with West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service

We are working with our partners at West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service this month, providing them with access to some of our high rise apartments in Wakefield city centre, to allow them to carry out training exercises in our empty properties. There will be another exercise taking place this Saturday, 28 May 2022 from 10 am to 12 pm at Gill Sike House in Wakefield.

Pontefract neighbourhood to benefit from multi million pound investment

WDH is investing four million pounds into improving 113 homes on Cromwell Crescent in Pontefract as part of the social housing provider’s wider £150 million investment in their homes over the next three years. The homes have already benefitted from external works in 2018, including new roofs and repointing to help improve their energy efficiency and will now undergo environmental works to further improve the appearance of the local area.

14 new homes in Wakefield delivered in partnership with Esh Construction

A development of 14 new affordable homes in Wakefield has been handed over to WDH, with the first residents set to move in imminently. Delivered by Esh Construction’s affordable housing division, the Greenhill Mews development provides seven two and three-bedroom homes for affordable rent, as well as seven properties for shared ownership, all of which have been reserved off-plan.
