External works in Airedale leave independent living residents with a smile

Published 12 November 2019

Residents at West Mead Independent Living Scheme in Airedale were left smiling after WDH invested in improving their homes.

As part of the housing association’s commitment to providing places where people want to live, all 68 homes were fitted with new roofs, guttering soffits and pointing work as well as new store doors.

Residents are pleased with the work and commented on the level of customer service and the way they were kept informed throughout. Janet Dawson, a resident at the scheme, said: “I have no complaints at all, the whole team were fantastic. The coffee mornings were useful, they gave us a lot of useful information and Pervez and the team on site resolved any issues very quickly.”

To make sure that everyone was comfortable with the work taking place, WDH made sure that residents were consulted throughout, visiting coffee mornings, meeting with families and visiting less mobile tenants in their homes.

Pervez Khaliq, WDH’s Project Officer – Improvements, said: “This was quite a challenging site in terms of the scale of works that were completed. But everyone seems happy. It’s nice to leave residents with a smile on their faces.”
