The Major Works team are looking for an energetic, driven and committed individual to assume specific responsibility for the day-to-day planning, organising and management of all elements of construction works taking place on specific projects / sites. The successful applicant will play a key role in supporting the delivery of WDH’s capital reinvestment programme.

What you’ll be doing:

In this role you will ensure that all works are carried out in full compliance with all applicable legislation, financial regulations, procurement regulations along with WDH policies and procedures.

You will also organise and control an efficient and cost-effective work force for allocated areas of responsibility using direct labour and sub-contractors.

What we’re looking for:

  • a qualification at Level 3 of the Regulated Qualifications Framework in a relevant construction related field;
  • SMSTS, or willing to work towards it;
  • first aid at work, or willing to work towards it;
  • experience of organisation and control of Construction Projects within target times and within a performance management culture;
  • significant supervisory experience within a relevant environment;
  • significant experience in a Construction environment with project and contract management knowledge;
  • ability to communicate with people at all levels, to diffuse potentially damaging situations and look at issues from the customers perspective; and
  • willingness to work on a flexible basis as workload dictates.

The post holder must hold a valid, UK driving licence with the ability to travel throughout the district and to other locations as required by the business.
